Our Story

The Brown Sugar Stitchers Quilt Guild was founded in 2000 by a visionary group of African American women quilters in Atlanta. Conceived in 1999 by Jocelyn Carter and Nancy Franklin, and encouraged by librarian Doris Wells, the guild officially formed in 2000 with Nancy Franklin as our first president.

Since then, we've grown into a diverse collective of passionate quilters committed to sharing our love for quilting, uplifting our community, and honoring our heritage through fiber art.
